Introductory Tibetan Language Workshop - Introductory Batch
Description
The strategic importance of the Tibetan language in safeguarding India’s security is paramount, particularly in light of the advanced age of the Dalai Lama and the growing instability surrounding the political situation in Tibet. Hence, in addition to the aforementioned reasons, the significance of Tibet within the framework of the India-China relationship is anticipated to be heightened. This elevation is attributed to the presence of Tibetan individuals deployed within Tibet along the border regions with India as part of the Chinese military. Furthermore, it is Tibet that shares a border with India, and a considerable part of the Himalayan region in India maintains strong connections to Tibetan culture and religion. Meanwhile, China asserts its territorial sovereignty over certain areas in India as components of the Tibet Autonomous Region or South Tibet. Tibetan also is the language of Buddhism in India, Tibet, Mongolia, and Bhutan. Many of the important Buddhist text are only translated into Tibetan – i.e. Kagyur and Tengyur.
