Description
The Introductory Chinese Language Workshop offers a 9 hours intensive course that transforms new students into fluent speakers of the basic Chinese language with special focus on the Sounds, phonetics and Tones of the language.
Instructors are highly educated native Chinese speakers or near-native speakers who teach the Chinese Language at SICSSL, RRU.
The program boasts a student-centered model of learning. Through innovative teaching approaches and sound technology integration, the faculty members equip their students with the tools and skills they need to be autonomous learners and prepare them to thrive in the course.

Ms. Arushi Singh is a Subject Matter Specialist in Mandarin Language in the School of International Cooperation, Security, and Strategic Languages (SICSSL) since August, 2023. She is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language at National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, R.O.C. Recognized for her exceptional dedication, Ms. Singh was honored with a gold medal for her outstanding performance in the Intensive Diploma in Chinese Language program at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Her commitment to the Chinese language and Culture was further acknowledged through the prestigious Huayu Enrichment Scholarship awarded by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education. Her profound understanding of the intricacies of both linguistic and cultural aspects of the Chinese language sets her apart. Ms. Singh’s experience includes valuable contributions as an Assistant Teacher at National Tsing Hua University. Her efforts extend beyond the classroom, where she has actively contributed to strengthening the Taiwan-India bilateral relationship through her collaboration with the India Studies Center in R.O.C.
Ms. Dien-Min Liu (Diane) is a Subject Matter Specialist (Mandarin language) at the School of International Cooperation, Security, and Strategic Languages (SICSSL), Rashtriya Raksha University since September 2023. Previously, Ms. Liu has been Dean, Publications (1994-2000) and Dean, Curriculum, Soochow University, Taipei (1999-2005) and Lecturer, Chinese Language Center, National Taiwan Normal University (2005-2023). She is pursuing her PhD in the Department of Chinese Language Teaching, National Taiwan Normal University since 2020. She was also a visiting Lecturer, Chinese Language Center, National Tsinghua University, Taiwan (2022-23). Ms. Liu was a cultural ambassador representing Taiwan on assignments by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prestigious institutions including UC Berkeley, USA (2007-09); UBC, Canada (2010-12); Moscow Linguistic University, Russia (2012-2013); University of Tübingen, Germany (2013-14) and on a Government of India project (2016-18). She has made notable contributions through published papers and books focusing on localized teaching materials including notably her co-authored volumes, ‘Advanced Business Chinese,’ a two-volume commercial Chinese textbook from the National Taiwan Normal University; ‘Incredible Chinese’ from the India Center of Tsinghua University; and ‘The Basics of Incredible Chinese,’.
Ms. Chen Mei-ying (Amanda) is Subject Matter Specialist, Mandarin Language at the School of International Cooperation, Security and Strategic Language (SICSSL), Rashtriya Raksha University since September 2023. She is a professional bilingual Chinese/English teacher who has earned the Certification of Proficiency in Teaching Chinese as a Second/Foreign Language from the Ministry of Education Taiwan. Ms. Chen has over 20 years of teaching experience including lecture programs for different levels of students. She has attended several workshops including the 7th (2022) and 8th Monsoon Asia Workshop (2023) in National Tsing Hua University and online seminar of Teaching of Chinese as a Foreign Language.
