Description

This workshop is aimed at helping those who are interested in exploring Russian language, and provides basic knowledge you need to start this journey. Russian Language Workshop contains eight units (10 sessions), and begins with an introduction to the basics of the Russian alphabet. All units provide extensive theoretical and practical materials, and supply listening, reading, and vocabulary exercises to enhance the learning process. Upon completion of the workshop, learners will acquire basic conversation vocabulary; be able to read simple texts; and hold conversation on everyday topics such as family, weather, food, shopping, hobbies and personal activities.

Objectives of the workshop:
I. Developing the four skills prominent skills:
a) Listening: To listen to and understand the spoken language.
b) Speaking: To engage in simple dialogues.
c) Reading: To be able to read and understand elementary dialogues and texts.
d) Writing: To write a few simple sentences.
II. Learning basic vocabulary in Russian

What you'll learn

Greet in Russian: Russian alphabet. Vowels, consonants. How to greet in Russian (formal/informal greeting).

Introduce others: Demonstrative pronouns «это», «эти». Numbers 1-100. Human beings. Family members.

Order food/drinks at a restaurant/café: Talking about food (likes and dislikes). My favourite Restaurant.

Do shopping: At shopping Centre. Purchasing food, clothes, etc.

Vocabulary revision. Lexical tasks. Listening.

Introduce themselves: Pronouns. The use of «ты» and «вы». Personal pronouns in genitive case. Auxiliary verb “есть” (to have)

Talk about the weather: Describing weather. Reading weather-themed story.

Ask directions: Directions in Russian. Road directions vocabulary.

Talk about their hobbies: Free time. Vocabulary related to hobbies.

Vocabulary revision. Lexical tasks. Speaking.
