Description

Emotional Intelligence (EI) is increasingly recognised as a vital capability that shapes personal growth, family
harmony, workplace productivity, and overall well-being. For members of the Coast Guard Welfare and
Wellness Association (CGWWA), the ability to understand, regulate, and channel emotions effectively is
especially important. The demanding professional commitments of Coast Guard personnel place unique
emotional and psychological responsibilities on their families. Developing EI can help CGWWA members
navigate these challenges, promote resilience, and strengthen collective well-being.

In alignment with this vision, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 12 August 2025 between
Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), led by the School of Behavioural Sciences and Forensic Investigations
(SBSFI), and the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) along with CGWWA, North West Region, Gujarat. The MoU
establishes a collaborative framework for advancing mental and behavioural health support, reducing stigma
around mental health, and conducting training programmes, workshops, and research initiatives tailored to
the needs of Coast Guard personnel and their families. This course represents one of the key academic-welfare
initiatives emerging from that partnership.
