In essence, the major constituent elements of the overarching strategic partnership will be looked into.
Purpose of the program
The primary purpose of the program is to encourage and enrich understanding of the significance and implications of India-EU relations, not only in relation to the regional dynamics of Europe and India but also in relation to the larger global geopolitical dynamics, which are currently experiencing a great deal of turbulence. It is meant to educate and enlighten a new and upcoming generation of students, scholars, practitioners, future and serving diplomats as well as administrators-both civilian and military- of the fact that India and Europe are legitimate cornerstones of stability in the world today. Ties have witnessed significant strengthening in the past few years grounded on a shared commitment to rule of law, democracy and overall, a rules-based global order. Participants will be able to appreciate the broader contours of this growing and promising partnership that spreads across a wide spectrum today, from political and security to economy, from defence and military to homeland security, from society to culture and languages, and from climate diplomacy to connectivity partnerships. Essentially, the five-day program will bring together some of the most important and pertinent aspects of the India-EU partnership and provide participants with a comprehensive lens through which they can relate to and place the partnership's evolution in the proper context of current and upcoming national, regional, and international events.

What you'll learn
Recognizing the increasing military exercises, commerce, and interactions between India and the EU and the necessity for a comprehensive strategy to address present barriers to continued and enhanced collaboration. The dynamic security environment, in addition to the growing significance of the Indo-Pacific region and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, has made a new examination of India-EU defense cooperation necessary.
Examining the several elements that have created, are shaping, and will continue to shape India's relationship with the European Union and vice versa, with an emphasis on the partnership's shifting and developing dynamics—particularly in light of recent geopolitical and global events.
Investigating the important trends in security and counterterrorism policy as they relate to financing of terrorism, internet radicalization, cross-border terrorism, usage of disruptive new technology, etc. Examine the internal security and homeland security policies of the European Union and India in light of this and global events, and talk about potential areas and strategies for improving cooperation between European and Indian law enforcement authorities.
Learning about the ways that extreme weather events linked to climate change and worldwide pandemics such as the Covid-19 have brought us all back to the need of having a fresh conversation about issues like security and the need for a strong disaster management policy and infrastructure as an integrated part of the larger strategic cooperation between India and the EU.
Under the broader theme of migration and mobility within the scope of the strategic partnership, studying the 'People to People' and societal contact in the relations between India and the European Union. Also, analysis will be done on how ‘People to People’ contact in terms of exchange programs, diaspora etc. is playing a pivotal role towards the forging of a deep relationship.
Evaluating the present status of the 2015 EU-India agreement on climate change and clean energy, and offer recommendations from the standpoint of experts and policymakers. The pledge to uphold this alliance is one of the key elements of the EU and India's strategic cooperation strategy for 2025.
Studying the eastern Mediterranean as a strategic and historical entry point and a means of establishing long-lasting connections between Europe and India. Examine how seemingly modern-looking connectivity projects like the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) need to be viewed from a historical perspective in order to understand the current strategic implications and connotations that the project and the region as a whole imbibe. This is done by combining history with current events.
Understanding how languages could be, in fact, indeed are an important tool of Strategic Cooperation between India and various European Union countries. Esteemed speakers will throw light on the history of French and Greek language training and its advantages in the context of Indo-French and Indo-Greek cooperation and how they, in their own ways, shall buttress the broader profile of India-EU strategic cooperation.
