Ink and Iron: Two-Day Literary Fest on National Security in Contemporary India - September Batch
icon
19 Sep, 2025
National security is the foundation of India’s sovereignty and progress. In an era of global uncertainty, India under its visionary leadership has strengthened its defense, secured its borders, and projected itself as a responsible power in the Indo-Pacific and beyond. Yet, security is not only about military might, it is also about cultural unity, collective responsibility, and national pride. Literature, cinema, and digital media play an equally important role in inspiring citizens, honoring sacrifices, and fostering patriotism. This Literary Fest on National Security will highlight stories of courage, integrity, and resilience that reinforce India’s vision of a secure, strong, and united nation. Rationale India faces complex security challenges - terrorism, radicalization, cross-border infiltration, cyber threats, and environmental changes. Guided by a strong national security policy, the government has taken decisive measures: strengthening the armed forces, improving border infrastructure, championing Atmanirbhar Bharat in defense production, and projecting India’s leadership globally. Literature and cultural narratives must reflect these achievements, inspire pride, and strengthen the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. Films such as Uri: The Surgical Strike, Haqeeqat, LOC: Kargil, Shershaah and series like The Family Man capture the decisive and resilient spirit of Bharat. This festival will celebrate such narratives as vehicles of awareness, patriotism, and nation-building. Objectives: 1.To promote literary and cultural works that reinforce patriotism and national unity. 2. To inspire youth to engage with themes of service, duty, and sacrifice for the nation. 3. To highlight India’s security achievements under strong leadership. 4. To bridge literature, cinema, and policy in fostering pride in India’s heritage and resilience. 5. To encourage creative expression that reflects the complexity of modern security challenges Themes Please note that the activity you choose will be based on the selected theme. • National Integrity and Unity – Celebrating the strength of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat which are reflected in o Books: India After Gandhi (Ramachandra Guha), and likewise patriotic biographies of leaders. o Movies: Chak De! India, Swades, Rang De Basanti, Lagaan. o Series/Documentaries: 21 Sarfarosh - Saragarhi 1897, Stories of Rabindranath Tagore. • Borders and Beyond – Showcasing India’s growing strength against external threats and its leadership role in the Indo-Pacific. Narratives such as Sushant Singh’s Mission Overseas and patriotic films like Border and Lakshya highlight valor and sacrifice. • Women, War, and Security – Narratives celebrating women’s contributions to national security and empowerment, reflected in films like Raazi and real-life stories of women in defense services. • Diplomacy and War – Examining how India balances military strength with diplomatic foresight in the global arena. Narratives of international relations, treaties, and conflicts; from historical accounts of India’s wars to contemporary portrayal of India’s role as a peace-builder. Narratives that reflect on the same are o Movies: The Diplomat (highlighting negotiation and international stakes), Ek Tha Tiger and Tehran (depicting intelligence and covert diplomacy), Kesari (valor, sacrifice and spirit of defending India while invoking unity). • Echoes of the digital age – Exploring India’s readiness in digital defense, narratives on technological self-reliance, and battles against disinformation. • Environmental Security and Sustainability – Reflecting India’s leadership in climate action and sustainable development, inspired by works like Amitav Ghosh’s The Great Derangement and government initiatives like International Solar Alliance. Activities • Elocution Competition: (for offline participants) • Three Minute Presentation: (for online participants only- Participant have to make a video of the presentation on the above-mentioned topic of their choice). • Debate Competition: (for offline participants only) • Essay Writing Competition: (for both online and offline participants) • Poetry Recitation Competition: (for both online and offline participants) • Quiz Competition: (only for offline participants) • Collage/Poster Making Competition: (for both online and offline participants) Expected Outcomes The festival will inspire pride in India’s achievements, encourage patriotic literature and art, and build a stronger sense of collective responsibility among youth. It will strengthen cultural narratives that support the vision of a secure, united, and self-reliant India. National security is the soul of a nation’s strength. This Literary Fest will showcase how India’s stories, whether told through books, films, or poetry reinforce unity, inspire sacrifice, and celebrate resilience. It will affirm the principle that while strategies defend our borders, stories preserve our spirit, binding us in the vision of Bharat that is strong, self-reliant, and united.
